The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 this Thursday (November 5) with support for ZELDA NOTES, a service within the Nintendo Switch App for phones and tablets. Compatibility was added in update 1.1.1, which Nintendo released on Wednesday (November 4). After updating the game, simply follow the instructions shown at startup to set up the service.

Until now, ZELDA NOTES only worked with the Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, released in 2025. Nintendo had shown what the service would offer in Ocarina of Time during the series' 40th anniversary Direct on September 8, the same presentation that drove a 110% rise in searches for Switch 2 in Brazil (in Portuguese).

The app's menu for the remake brings together 11 features: a map, Gossip Quest, a monster museum, Today's Record, personal stats, global stats, a photo editor, Threads of Time, amiibo, Play Ocarina and Ocarina of Time Quiz. Nintendo detailed four of them.

What the new features do

Today's Record builds a timeline of what the player did each day, including statistics such as enemies defeated. Every so often, the app automatically saves screenshots from play sessions, turning the result into a recap of that day's adventure.

Gossip Quest displays an image on your phone as a clue to a hidden location in the game. Finding the spot earns points that can be exchanged for sheet music to use in Play Ocarina.

Play Ocarina turns your phone's screen into a virtual ocarina. You can play freely, follow a guided performance or listen to automatic playback of sheet music. Players can also compose their own melodies, share them on social media through QR codes and scan other people's codes to play their tunes on the device.

Ocarina of Time Quiz tests your knowledge of the game with questions and images drawn from a pool of more than 2,000 questions. The first attempt each day is free; subsequent attempts cost rupees earned in the game.

The app's ocarina is separate from the game's

The phone's ocarina is a separate feature. Within the remake, Nintendo has created another way to play: humming or playing an instrument near the Switch 2 microphone makes Link repeat one of the songs he has already learned during the adventure.

What you need to use it

ZELDA NOTES does not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, according to the Nintendo Switch App page. To use it, you need the game updated to version 1.1.1, a phone or tablet compatible with the Nintendo Switch App, a Nintendo Account linked to the console and an internet connection.
